Creature Comforts | Rain and Frogs

The entire state has experienced buckets of wet weather for the past couple of days, and the entire summer, as a whole. While people often worry about flooding and water damage, large amounts of rain affect quality and quantity of breeding habitats for our Mississippi wildlife as well. Biologist Joe Magee joins the program to talk about his observations during this rainy season. As always, Dr. Troy Majure, DVM, with the Animal Medical Center, and Libby Hartfield answer your pet and creature questions!

On Creature Comforts, Kevin Farrell is joined by Dr. Troy Majure, veterinarian at the Animal Medical Center in Jackson and Libby Hartfield retired director of the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science.A little over a month ago, Creature Comforts had a conversation about Urban Wildlife, which included the topic of deer – white-tailed deer specifically. They are dispersed all across the state in both our rural and more urban areas. And while in that previous conversation we couldn’t get into the topic of deer at-length, they are our sole subject for today. Pierce Young from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks joins us today to help us understand more about these creatures that share Mississippi with us – from the green fields to the gray buildings. Email the show: animals@mpbonline.org.
