The black bear and Mississippi have a storied history together, dating back to the days of President Theodore Roosevelt and the Teddy Bear. The bat might not be one of the featured animals when we think about Mississippi wildlife, such as deer or catfish, but the state is home to fifteen types of bats that play a significant role in Mississippi's ecosystem.
